Extra Practice for Solving Equations

This chapter has covered numerous ways to write equations and solve mathematical problems. There are many different types of situations, and a good math student will be able to select the best way to deal with each one. You can set up one-step, two-step or multi-step equations, use absolute value equations, find percent of change, solve proportions, rewrite formulas, figure adjusted prices, write mixture equations, deal with rate problems and use dimensional analysis. Use your newly learned knowledge to complete the project.

Chapter 2 Project
Make sure to go through Canvas to complete this assignment
You will be designing a mixture problem for this project. It is up to you to decide what you will mix--candy, hardware, chemicals, nuts, fruits, flowers, or almost any category. The mixture problem you write must be realistic and must use prices and quantities based on facts. You will write a math problem and solve it accurately. Use the specific instructions below to create your mixture.

-Select two items that will be included in your mixture.
-Go online and research the actual cost of these items. Try to find the cost per pound, per liter, per oz...whatever unit you will be using in your math problem.
-Write a mixture problem that includes the actual cost of your items. Your problem can solve for the cost of the mixture or the amount of one of your ingredients.
-Use the assignment link on Canvas to turn in your project worksheet.
-Your project should include pictures of the two items in your mixture.
-Be sure to label your answer.
-You can work on your own or with a partner.
